Ginninderra Cricket club celebrates 50 years

This year the Ginninderra Cricket Club, nestled at Kippax Ovals in Holt, proudly celebrates 50 years of service as a premier institution in ACT Premier Cricket. Since achieving grade status in 1979, the Club has become a beacon of inclusion, development, on‑field achievement, and community spirit.

Ginninderra Cricket Club isn’t just another cricket club—it’s a cornerstone of cricket in the ACT.

Founded in 1854, Ginninderra has deep roots in the ACT’s local heritage. Yet the Club’s modern ascent truly began in 1979, when it attained Premier Grade status and embarked on a transformative journey in ACT elite cricket.

Over the past five decades, Ginninderra has produced outstanding talent—including players who’ve represented the ACT Comets, Meteors, and beyond. Some standout achievers include regional representative batsmen and bowlers who began their journeys through the Club’s development programs.

Throughout our history our remarkable turnaround from underdogs to champions, investment in grassroots cricket, and strong volunteer culture making us a leading force in local community sport.

As part of the 50‑year celebrations, Ginninderra announces an Anniversary Dinner to honour the club’s rich history and launch what promises to be another incredible season ahead of the 2025/26 cricket season.
